Geared Up for golf on the Garden Route

Pinnacle Point

Located near Mossel Bay, Pinnacle Point is an 18-hole championship golf course designed by South African golf course architect Peter Matkovich, who opened the course together with top Irish Tour Golf Professional Darren Clarke in November 2006. This cliff-top golf course is currently rated among Top 20 courses in South Africa and spans some 400 hectares, 100 of which are actually a nature reserve and home to over 260 species of fynbos making it a nature lover’s delight. Local and international ecologists have hailed the reintroduction of endemic fauna and flora on the estate.

Pezula Golf Course

Pezula, a Shona word which loosely translated means “high up with the gods”, is perched high up on one of the Knysna Heads, covering 254 hectares and offering spectacular views of both the Knysna Lagoon and the Indian Ocean. The 18-hole golf course, designed by David Dale and Ronald Fream of GolfPlan USA, is designed to test every shot, making it a challenging and complete golf experience for players of all levels. Signature holes include the 13th and 14th holes.

Oubaai Golf Course…

This is the first of the Ernie Els signature courses in South Africa; an idyllic yet challenging course surrounded by the most breath-taking scenery of the Garden Route. Oubaai Golf Club is located in Herolds Bay along the Garden Route, only 8km from George, and perched on the edge of cliffs leading down to the Indian Ocean with the Outeniqua Mountain Range as a backdrop. Veld vegetation lines the fairways along this lengthy 6 516m course which is moulded according to the landscape. The course also has the full host of first-rate facilities including a clubhouse that offers panoramic views of the Indian Ocean and the Gwaing River Valley.

Fancourt’s three golf courses are ranked among Golf Digest’s Top 20 courses in the country, comprising: the Links Golf Course, the Montagu Golf Course and the Outeniqua Golf Course. Designed by a dynamic team spearheaded by the legendary Gary Player and the estate’s owner, Dr. Hasso Plattner, Fancourt promises a five-star golfing experience. The Links in particular has been described by Gary Player as his greatest feat as a course designer and features undulating, windswept terrain and dune-style landscape.
