The Village Market is held every Saturday morning until 12h30 in the lovely Euvrard Park, Bath Street, opposite the Tourism Bureau. A real winner with locals and visitors alike, this is the place to experience a slice of Montagu life.

Montagu’s rock walls offer a wide variety of high quality climbing opportunities at every level from beginner to expert. The area has over 450 climbing routes which cater for climbers of all levels of experience. Montagu is recognised as one of the outstanding climbing destinations in South Africa.

Hicks art gallery

The artist Richard Hickman from Montagu (South Africa) is fast becoming a revered name in the art community. Working mostly in watercolours, but also using pastels, oils and mixed media, this unusual artist delves into a fascinating world of fantasy and fugue. The gallery is located at 9 Joubert Street.

Bird watching

One of Montagu’s most popular and easily accessible tourism venues is the Leidam with its large variety of indigenous birds, situated in the heart of town at the north-westerly corner of Barry and Bath Streets.

Hot springs
