PRESS RELEASE
JOHANNESBURG 12 November 2019 – Mjejane Bush Camp and Jackalberry Ridge have won coveted accolades at the National Lilizela Tourism Awards, held on Saturday, 9 November at Times Square’s Sun Arena in Pretoria.
Both of these award-winning lodges, based near the Kruger National Park, form part of the Dream Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio, comprising 23 properties located in highly sought-after holiday destinations across South Africa and Mozambique.
Mjejane Bush Camp
It’s a phenomenal achievement and a true honour to have snapped up the title as the Best 5-Star Self-Catering, Shared Vacation Resort in the country, says Ross Forssman, the General Manager at Mjejane Bush Camp.
“We have won other awards within Dream Hotels & Resorts, but this is on another level, especially when one considers the high calibre of competition in our category,” he adds. “Winning this award is not only a testament to this incredible facility, but it also means so much to all of our hard-working and dedicated staff who play a crucial role in delivering a high level of service to our guests.”
The camp is located within Mjejane Private Game Reserve, along the southern end of the Kruger, and offers guests self-catering safari rooms and suites, ranging from one to four bedrooms. The riverine forest that surrounds the reserve, is home to the elusive leopard and elephant herds that frequent the area.
Jackalberry Ridge
Jackalberry Ridge located along the southern border of Kruger, within Marloth Park, cracked the nod for the best lodge in the 3-Star Caravan and Camping category.
The Jackalberry team is absolutely ecstatic about winning the award, says Leonie Verhoog, Jackalberry Ridge’s General Manager. “It’s a testament to our focus on quality, and the commitment of all our staff members to deliver an exceptional experience for every guest, every time,” she explains. “It is truly a privilege to receive such a distinguished accolade, especially amongst the high level of Lilizela competition,” she adds.
This self-catering, family-friendly accommodation strikes exactly the right balance between comfort and outdoor authenticity. With dangerous game restricted within the conservancy, guests can embark on bush walks or bike rides along the Crocodile River to witness giraffe, zebra and wildebeest, as well as herds of tuskers frolicking on the other side.
Now in its seventh year, the Lilizela Awards honours establishments (and individuals) in the tourism industry that deliver world-class products and services. Each year the event recognises the dedication, hard work and commitment portrayed by the industry stakeholders for providing an utmost high level of service for local and international tourists.
