HOSPITALITY THINK TANK SYNOPSIS

Thank you to all those that attended the inaugural Hospitality Industry Think Tank held at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton on the 7 July 2023, for those that could not attend this is an event not to be missed next year.

The Steering Committee are proposing Friday, 12 July 2024 for the next event.

The Think Tank is designed to bring together Hospitality decision-makers to debate and find solutions in areas that are currently having the greatest impact on the industry.

The areas identified by the Steering Committee are split into 4 categories and then debated over four 90-minute panel discussions consisting of 4 experts in their identified fields and a facilitator.

The feedback from all that attended has been exceptional and attached is a synopsis of the day. The synopsis is an overview and summary of the panel conversations that took place and interesting reading whether you attended or not.

Following the Think Tank, we arranged a fund-raising gala dinner “Dream the Impossible Dream” celebrating up-and-coming young performing artists and supporting Reach for a Dream.

The performing artists on the night came from Wits Music and Drama and the NPO Moving into Dance.

After deducting the expenses from our income achieved through attendance fees and our main sponsors Wyndham Hotel Group, Sun International, Beekman Group, Dream Hotels and Resorts, Infrateq, HTI, Profit Room and Heineken we raised R242 808,76 for Reach for a Dream. Touching Dreams is the coordinating NPO, and section 18 certificates will be issued on request.

The Steering Committee consisted of Chris Godenir (Dream Hotels and Resorts), Tony Forbes (Beekman Group), Jon Kilroe-Smith (Club Mykonos), Janita Donaldson (Sun International), Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa (TBCSA) and Ian Jansen van Rensburg (Sondela).

The invites were circulated by our Industry Associations TBCSA, FEDHASA, SATSA and VOASA, truly a collaborative event.

We are looking forward to our next Think Tank and Gala Dinner in 2024.
