What we do
As we pursue our shared vision of building a brighter future for all, social responsibility sits at the heart of every decision we make here at Dream Hotels & Resorts. Touching Dreams reflects this, encompassing new and ongoing projects to help those who need it most.
We are on a mission to drive real change and foster a strong sense of hope as we help turn dreams into reality. As we’ve learnt over the years, even one simple act of kindness can completely change someone’s life, further prompting them to do the same for others.
HOW WE DO IT
We support several community-based initiatives within our Touching Dreams portfolio. Many of these are angled to support the development of South Africa’s future leaders, some of which are detailed below. Along side these initiatives, each of the 24 properties in the Dream Hotels & Resorts family have also pledged to nominate a charity within their community that is associated with early childhood development or youth development.
Reach For A Dream seeks to alleviate the strain that life-threatening illnesses place on sick children and their families by providing these dreamers with the opportunity to believe in their greatest wish. The Foundation has been providing dreams to children all around the country for 33 years in counting. These young children are under extreme pressure to deal with these medical issues and are in desperate need of encouragement. In addition, Reach For A Dream offers the child a magical moment to regain their childhood that is being lost to an illness.

The primary goal of Christel House is breaking the cycle of poverty, which is something we are always willing to get behind here at Dream Hotels & Resorts. Based in the Western Cape, this growing institution assists in educating vulnerable children from Grade R to Grade 12, further providing necessary career guidance and emotional support. We greatly appreciate how their team places strong emphasis on building confidence and a sense of self-sufficiency within each student. With significant operational demands at Christel House, the ongoing financial support we provide allows them to continue their good work.

Based at Langkloof settlement in the Northern Drakensberg, Langkloof Orphanage has long stood as a haven for AIDS orphans and vulnerable children. As the primary benefactor, Dream Hotels & Resorts works closely with the current supervisor, Lindiwe Khoza, to provide everything these young cubs need to thrive: food, shelter, safety, and love. Our team offers significant support by covering monthly operating costs, daily meals, and property maintenance, which includes the on-site creche and primary school.

Based in Durban, St Martins provides a safe respite for young boys and girls from all backgrounds. Dream Hotels & Resorts wants to play an active role in making this house feel like a real home, going beyond keeping the lights on and the water running. By helping to alleviate their high operating costs, St Martins staff can turn their focus on providing adequate developmental support for every child who passes through their doors.

ST MARTIN'S SUMMER FAIR
If you want to start the year on a positive note, add the St. Martin's Summer Fair to your 2024 calendar. Taking place on 13 January 2024 at Tala Collection Game Reserve in Camperdown, this colourful event is guaranteed to ignite your spirit in more ways than one.
The goal of the fair is to raise funds for overdue maintenance for St. Martin's Diocesan Home for Children. Based in Durban, the organisation has assisted children in need since 1897 and currently houses just over 75 abandoned youths...

K9 CONNOR
Connor, a hard-working and loyal Rave Rhino K9 has been diagnosed with Splenic histiocytic sarcoma. The team is urgently seeking donations for his urgent medical care.
Dream Hotels and Resorts through its NPC Touching Dreams (“Dream”) has partnered with Reach For A Dream to bring joy and hope to children and their families affected by life-threatening illnesses.Under the partnership, Dream Hotels and Resorts will be actively involved in supporting Reach For A Dream’s projects and fundraisers.

Update: K9 Connor

Update on K9 Connor, he has been consistently losing weight, we are trying everything to get him to eat we now have him on a raw diet.
He went back to Hayfields Veterinary Hospital to Dr Adank for a check up his weight was 26,4kg and they found that one of his testicles was hard and his prostrate was enlarged, they also noted he was extremely sensitive to being touched in that area.
K9 Connor had surgery yesterday to remove his testicles, his weight was 25,7kg he has dropped 700g in a week. 😩😪.
We were given the very very sad news yesterday that his cancer is back, the testicle had a tumour attached and is the same aggressive cancer that attached to his spleen, his bloodwork came back where the markers have gone to extremely high. 😭 there unfortunately is not much more that can be done for K9 Connor we are monitoring his weight now, if he drops to 23kg then we have to make the call. 😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏Nothing is stopping K9 Connor he is still active(we do enforce quiet time for him in the afternoons) we are allowing him to live his best life and do what he loves to do, swim, chew sticks, chew his Kong and play with his tyres😉 😜 🙏🐾
